SYRIZA Kastorias branch: YES to the bloody fur trade
To :
The President
The Central Policy Committee and
The Executive Secretariat of SYRIZA E.K.M.
3/6/2014
Ladies and Gentlemen,
During the election campaign, SYRIZA Kastorias branch as well as the former major or smaller parties of the government alliances, expressed positions in favour of the bloody fur trade .
We consider, however, that the people that voted for you bringing you in the first position, among them the thousands of people who act for the protection and the animal rights, are waiting ; waiting for the qualitative difference from the radical left, as you describe your party.
This is not the first time that your above-mentioned branch makes such statements, as , if we search the past, we will find other video with positions that infuriating the Greek animal friendly citizens.
It is known that during election campaigns, the soliciting of votes is exercised by all political parties regardless their ideology, and at this point the SYRIZA is no different from other “traditional” and now deteriorated parties.
It may locally (local elections, unions election, etc) these practices be effective, but the total of animal friendly citizens throughout Greece (national elections) have great power which is best not to elude you. We explicitly declare that the positions expressed by the SYRIZA Kastorias find us completely aversed and in case these are not changed, we will be forced to oppose you nationwide.
The Animal-friendly Community lists 1,500,000 citizens and volunteers and draftees to protect animal rights, we consider that the main opposition party and specifically the radical left cannot project anachronistic views and far from being radical on animal issues.
We have read with satisfaction the positions and opinions of Mr. Themis Dimitrakopoulos, Member of SYRIZA, but apparently that is not enough.
We wish to know what is the official position of your party for the use of millions of live animals and more so under the brutal and torturous ways of skinned alive, in order to satisfy the human vanity.
Of course, we realize that some people and their families need to make a living but not torturing other lives.
They are still fresh in our memory the events at Skouries, where several groups that make a living out of the gold mines and the enterpreauners of these gold mines overlook the environmental destruction for the sake of the financial benefits and the positions of SYRIZA and of local society were fully understood and respected.
Something similar we expect from you for the bloody fur crafts and trade in Kastoria and elsewhere.
Can you even think, if we extend this view, that some need to make a living at the expense of some others lives in broader aspects of the economy and society, what it might mean and where can this lead?
Let’s not hold two baskets depending on what is of interest each time, because this is not the way you will make the defining difference from the other parties, as you declare in all tones.
As the main opposition party and probably tomorrow’s Government of this bleeding country you ought to include in your program alternative forms and subsidize, as a Government, development projects in the region of Kastoria and elsewhere that will not rely on blood and torturing innocent living beings.
A visit to the world of the Internet for what’s going on in the well guarded inner working places of these companies is enough to realize what it concerns and ask yourself who is ultimately the beast.
The respect for diversity must concerns every kind of life, human or non-human and should not be the sole right of the humans but the right of every sentient living being of the air, the sea and the land.
We are at your disposal should you need any information.
