RESOLUTIONS of The Conference
“For a Greece Without Strays”
It is the first time in Greece that two major organisations, the non-governmental Pan-Hellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation and the governmental Central Union of Municipalities of Greece unanimously reached to a proposal of strategic significance for a Greece without strays.
It is the first time that a complete, realistic and immediately applicable plan is proposed rather than “ineffective” solutions or “solutions” at the expense of animals, as it has been the case so far, resulting in decades of stagnation, if not worse.
It is now up to the Government and the competent Ministries to make use of the knowledge, the experience and the know-how especially of the animal-friendly citizens, always in the light of respect for animal life and the society, and methodically yet with continuity in its work to take the brave and radical decisions required on the basis of the proposed plan.
This is the first time – at the second resolution of the Conference – in which KEDE, the Union of all Municipalities of the country, in the most formal way, condemns practices against animals, their targeting, condemns the degradation of the municipality kennels and encourages and commits the Municipality Authorities to follow financially feasible solutions with immediate results and mainly solutions that require a change in the current perception of the treatment of the stray animals.
As an institution, our Federation and its Associations with their voluntary, unselfish, and continuous work everywhere where the heart of the strays beat, will unfaltering continue our struggle by all means and ways, scientifically, substantially and effectively, and above all, to see a breakthrough change of our country’s page in the case of animals.
