Subject: Permanent ban of Yulin dog meat festival in China

Honorable sirs,

Worldwide, there is an intense public outcry against China for animal abuse. This time, it is the repulsive dog eating festival in the city of Yulin, which has led to an international outrage against this city.

Thousands of dogs and cats suffer till death. They are slaughtered under appalling conditions, which is considered repugnant all over the world. Yulin festival is associated with animal cruelty and it tarnishes your country’s image.

However, as a positive step forward the Chinese government has clearly stated that dogs are pets. Also, in some cities the consumption of dogs and cats has already been banned noting a sign of improvement and enhancing the country’s reputation.

Furthermore, every country in the world is obliged to protect public health and safety during the current pandemic. Thus, this festival poses a risk to public health and it could be considered as an illegal activity in a civilized state.

Citizens from many countries have signed calling for an end to the Yulin dog meat festival.

Panhellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation calls for the ban of the festival. It is offensive to human, civilization, modern society and morality.

China is a great country which contributes to mankind’s progress. It is absurd to perpetuate such a barbaric custom.

Yours sincerely,

Panhellenic Animal Welfare and Environmental Federation
