Shock and awe at a zoo in Patra
Specifically, these two animals had been found almost dead. One of them was tied up, on a pile of manure and with flies in his face.
This was the first trial against a zoo, so court’s decision was a first victory.
We are only at the beginning.
It was a good start and in the near future there will be more trials for a number of violations on animal legislation.
In the summer of 2017, the case of this zoo was revealed by our Federation.
Captivated animals had been living in appalling conditions without animal welfare, a life of suffering next to carcasses and bones of dead animals.
PFPO had denounced and monitors the evolution of this case.
As the administrative fine of 60.000 € has not imposed yet by the component service of municipal component service, our Federation is going to take all legal action.
Our struggle will come to an end only if the operation license of the zoo is withdrawn. Our efforts will stop when all these animals are rescued and they will have a life that they deserve and it will be taken care for their welfare.
